1993 Man of the Year - Frederick Gerald "Bud" Wright, CWA 2204

Frederick Gerald "Bud" Wright

Born December 2, 1927, to Luther and Anna Wright, "Bud" has been a lifelong memebr of Ghent Grace Brethren Church, where he is presently serving as Trustee.

"Bud" and his wife, Betty, are the parents of four children, sons , "Bud", Jr., Danny, Gregory and one daughter, Peggy Smorodin. They are also the proud grand parents of seven grandchildren.

"Bud's" outstanding contributions to the labor movement are reflected in his 44 years of dedication to CWA. During these years, he served Local 2204 in a number of capacities including job steward, Legilative Chair, Plant Representative, Vice President and President.

"Bud" has held a number of positions in community service, serving on the boards of both the American Red Cross and the United Way. He is currently serving on the Board of the Private Industry Council of the Fifth District Employment and Training Consortium, the Executive Board of the Roanoke Untied Central Labor Council and a member of the Roanoke City Democratic Committee.

"Bud" served in the US Navy aboard the SS Fargo in 1946-47, he is retired with 33 years of service with C&P Telephone Comany and 5 years with AT&T.

It is with heartfelt pride that the Coalition of Labor Union Woman, Western Virginia Chapter, bestows the honor of 1993 "Outstanding Labor Man of the Year" to our friend and brother, "Bud" Wright.
