We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved sister and friend.
Lisa was the beautiful daughter of Thomas J. and Mary Sue Bragg. She was a loving Mom, Wife, and Grandmother. Lisa was a window clerk at the Hollins Branch of the United States Postal Service. She was a friend to anyone who met her. Lisa may have only been five feet tall, but she stood 10 feet tall when she fought for the causes she cared for and believed in.
Lisa was a member of the American Postal Workers Union Roanoke Local 482. She served as the Editor for the Local newspaper at the time of her demise. She served as a steward and Legislative Director for the Local. She had prior service as Vice President for the Virginia Postal Workers Union. She was a Delegate to the Western Virginia Labor Federation. She was a member of the Coalition of Labor Union Women and a board member for IWLA, Izaak Walton League Roanoke Chapter.
If there was a union meeting, rally, strike, parade or other cause she supported, she would be there to hand out fliers, carry signs, user her voice, whatever was called for to make sure people heard her. She was often seen recently on Saturday morning at the local Starbucks giving them her union support.
Lisa lover her Union. She loved representing the membership and fighting for their rights under collective bargaining. Lisa was always ready to walk ina parade to promote labor rights. She attended numerous events to support local Democrat candidates and delegates to make sure that they were aware of the needs of their constituents, especially under union and human rights.
Lisa is survived by her husband and best friend, Jonathan Hammes, and her children Kylen (Trish), Danielle and Victoria Kirkwood. Along with her stepsons, Justin, Joshua and Dylan Hammes. She loved her beautiful grandbabies Izabella, Haley and Emberlynn. She left behind a sister, nieces, nephews and other family members. She loved her fur baby Roxy, who joined her in heaven.
