Born and raised in Hampton, Virginia, Linda Henderson is the daughter of Eric Snapp and the late Stella Snapp. She has been married to Lawrence Henderson for 45 wonderful years. Together they have two sons, Eric (Teresa) and John (Linda) and three grandsons, Christopher, Lawrence Jr., and Carl of Hampton, Virginia.
Linda attended Hampton Public Schools and graduated from Hampton High School in 1966. After High school, she applied for a job at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia and began working as a contractor for Klate Holt Inc. She is currently working for LeGacy Resource Corporation as a contract administrator. During her 43 years at NASA LaRC, she has received numerous awards for her dedicated work.
She is a member of Phoebus Baptist Church where Paul Riley serves as Pastor.
In her spare time Linda is a life member of the Buckroe Fire Department Ladies Auxillary. She now holds the office of Historian. She also volunteers to work the concession stand at the Hampton Coliseum to earn money for the Buckroe Fire Department.
In 1973, Linda joined the International Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 2531. She had served as Shop Steward for 6 years. For 13 years she has served as Treasurer for the Local 2531 and for the Virginia State Machinist Council. She is now a Delegate to District 74 and Delegate to the State AFL-CIO. One of her proudest efforts was serving for 10 years as a Delegate to the Peninsular Center Labor Council and working as the recording secretary under Russ Axsom and Jim Avery.
Among her many accomplishments, Linda served on the Screening Committee for several political candidates and worked on the Community on Political Education (COPE) and the Get Out The Vote, GOTV. She is committed to helping her union brothers and sisters when needed. She volunteers to be a call person when a national voting is to be held.
Linda is very proud to be honored as “Woman of the Year 2009” for the Coalition of Labor Union Women. Her love and dedication for the Union is her hope to make all Unions work for all mankind.
