Dawn Greenway, Representative UFCW 400

Woman of the Year

Dawn

I was raised in a union household. When I was a child I would walk picket lines and attend union events with my mother. She worked a short time at Kroger before going to work for the phone company. She saw value in the benefits of a union job. Her name is Norma Pohan and she has been happily retired for 23 years now!

I began working at Kroger in 1989. I never would have dreamed I would have stayed as long as I have. I served as a shop steward in 2 different stores, served on the bargaining committee a couple of times (if you ever want to know how your company feels about you serve on a bargaining committee). I did membership/sign up programs in Richmond and in Roanoke. I have also worked on political programs. I just recently had the opportunity to canvas in Pittsburg, PA for Kamala Harris.

I now serve as a Representative for UFCW Local 400. I truly love what I do! I love being able to help people and enforce our union contract. I can’t tell you how many times I have said the best thing about being union is having a union contract.

I am married to a proud retired union member Paul Greenway. He retired from GE. We enjoy spending time with our three cats, our family and friends. Paul is very supportive of me and understands crazy schedules, work trips and all it takes to do what I do.
